What is the difference between free handle design and static handle design?

In hotel lock line, normally has two kinds tech design about hotel lock handle. 

1- Static handle design. This means, the handle cannot press down at any time. Only when you insert keys or swipe card, then press down handle. Door can open. However, in hotels or some public places, people like to press down handle with hard power. So it will harm the lock. 

2- Free handle design. This means, the handle can press down at any time. When you open door by keys or cards or without doing anything, handles can press down freely. This surely will avoid harm to lock because of breakage on purpose. Also this will make hotel lock work more smoothly. 

Free handle design is now very popular in hotel locks line, because it is really useful. ‘
